   This is ALSO an excellent solution for my issues on accessing Reporting Service web service URL. (http://machine-name/ReportServer)
   I tried all the suggestions found on the net which does change on firewall port 80 and allow the URL in the trusted zone (http://machine-name) it was still failing with permission error.

   After I tried this one (even though the prompt user/password issue was my lower priority) it solved my problem

   1′st – thanks for the post. I an currently blocked with the exact issue you describe.
   However, for some reason when I try to perform step 6, although I type the correct site (for my installation of SQL 2012 express it’s http://localhost/Reports), The last part gets truncated, and IE says that the site http://localhost already exists in the local intranet, and do I want to move it to the trusted sites. If I say yes then the site is moved to trusted (and I get http://localhost in trusted instead of local intranet).
   In any case IE keeps prompting me for credentials, and running as admin does not help when I try to login into the reports manager…

   too bad because I really like the report designer.

     Hi Oren,

     Thanks for your enquiry. Are you trying to access the report server outside the domain?
     As far as I am aware, this solution works for trusted networks and reporting services keep prompting for username/password if request if from outside network – untrusted.

       Hi,
       No. There is something probably messed up on my installation.
       I am trying to access the report viewer from the same computer it was installed on. It’s the first thing I tried doing after the installation.
       I went through the same installation sequence on a different computer (Win7 x86) and it worked great.
       I tried opening a bug on MS for this, since I am pretty much stuck. re-installing the product didn’t help either.
       I wonder of anyone else encountered the same issue.

         If you are accessing the report manger from the same machine, it should work by following the steps. I hope you hear from MS.
         By the way, I tried this on another machine Window 7 64 bit, and I only need to add http://localhost to Local Internet tab under Security and that resolve the issue. So, make sure you have it there; otherwise, it might be from your machine

           Seems that when I added localhost to trusted sites it was removed from local intranet (is this just an x64 thing?). When I added localhost to intranet, all is well.

   Hi Soheib,

   Your site was helpful in resolving the UAC issue. I am still having trouble with the prompt for username/password.

   If I edit the datasource security settings to Connect using Windows integrated security then I get
   ” An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
   Cannot create a connection to data source ‘DataSource1′. (rsErrorOpeningConnection)
   Login failed for user ‘NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON’. ”

   However, if I change the setting to Credentials supplied by the user running the report and check Use as Windows credentials when connecting to the data source then i am prompted to enter user/password.

   The report server database is on a different server and I think there may be he double-hop Kerberos authentication issue. I’ll try setting the SPN name (setspn.exe).

   Any ideas on what else might be the cause of this issue?

     Hello Habib,

     If you are accessing the report server from an un-trusted environment (outside the domain), you will be always prompted to enter username/password for security reasons.
     The provided solution work only if you are within the same domain.

     I have not come across solution to prevent this happening when you report accessed outside domain.

     Please feel free to post here if you did find anything.

   Open internet Explorer > Tools > Internet options > Secutity > Select “Internet” > Click on “Custom Level” button below >(Security settings – internet zone opens, scroll down for) “User Authentication – Logon” under this select option “Automatic Logon with Current User Name and Password” and then click ok,
   Now close & reopen the internet Explorer and now try, this time Authentication required window will not be shown and it opens the required pages on any browser.
   (This setting worked In internet Explorer 7, check other versions also)

   your blog really helped me
   till recently login as Administrator to IE9 worked flawlessly in Windows 7
   to go to localhost/Reports site
   suddenly after a huge deluge of Microsoft updates yesterday ( 1st Apr 2013 ), to day I found nothing working as usual
   as IEsecurity might have been beefed up due to the updates etc.
   I tried to do this steps with Trusted sites but that does not work
   your blog worked

   important : it takes good time for IE even with 6GB memory to
   load localhost/Reports page so waiting is must

   congrats for good work

    Apart from changing the internet options Security, also uncheck the internet options-> Advanced-> security -> Enable Integrated Windows authentication if your Reporting server is using local authentication
